He's Alive was premiered on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Sunday Gathering of Redemption Hill Church. It was written in anticipation of our Easter service the following week, and the roots of the song find their origin in a sermon delivered during Advent on "Hope":
"The inspiration for this song comes from a sermon during Advent 2011 on "Hope". Listening, I was flooded with memories of being "enslaved by sin", full of "darkness and shame", worthy of death with no way out. I could tangibly sense once again the desperation I knew before believing. Encouraged that day by the Biblical definition of hope through Psalm 77, and reminded of how I often place my own hope in temporal, insufficient things, I began to thank God for returning my heart towards what true hope really is - believing in the infallible nature and truth of God, and His Word who has called us to a real, abiding, and living hope in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Our hope is not in vain. Neither is our faith. The Chosen One said "It is done". By faith He's calling us to come. He's Alive." - Gregory Jastrzemski
